i\'ll try it out once just to watch bejamin bratt.
i only watch it just because of grace park was in it this is crap and a man
that talks to god come on... i bet you it will only last one season at best
sorry grace park i think your goinig to be looking for a new job soon.
i'll admit, this is not the best show out there. and, if it were not for grace
park (playing a rich, slutty ex-prom queen) i would probably kick this one to
the curb.
but she is in it, so i'll keep watching it for as long as it is around (which
will hopefully not be that long, so she can move on to other projects).
wierdly, as atheistic as i am, i did not mind his "unusual relationship with
god". because of his irreverence, it does not come off as holier-than-thou. this
show is not very preachy, rather it just tries to show the degredation that
addiction causes. which is commendable.
but the mcguffin is weak. how many times can we see them grab an addict and whip
them off to rehab? too many times and it will become like reaper, which only
started getting really good when they relegated the soul-of-the-week-capture to
the minor subplot and focussed on the demon revolution. the problem with "the
cleaner" is that i do not see an interesting story arc that could take focus.
the possibilities are: his relationship with his family or him trying to take
down a drug cartel. another (unlikely) story arc could be his battle with a
nemesis, a person that has "an unusual relationship with the devil" that drives
people to addiction... but that is just a bit too "tru calling"/"quantum
leap"... it's been done.
so... here's hoping grace will grace us with a little (screw that: make it a
lot) of skin before the series is done....
i was actually surprised by grace park's acting ability. she showed a bit of
range here.
i also thought the show was pretty good. don't get me wrong, if it was the
fall, it would be much further down on my watch list, but it isn't like my tivo
is running out of space often atm. and it is definitely better than some shows
that make it past season 1.
it is nice that there is a lot of options in the summer now, it used to be
nothing but reruns on 3 channels.
