no cold case is a u.s. version of a canadian show called cold case there was
talk of a cross over (just for laughs) between the canadian version and the
u.s. version. would have been neat to see how they interacted with their
respective counterparts
the name of the canadian show was cold squad ( h++p://www.imdb.com/title/
tt0138959/ ) and cold case in the states was a direct unsuported rip off right
down to the casting, only with a bigger budget. it came about there were
talks of suing the makers and the networks involved with cold case but since it
is based on a british tv series, prime suspect and adapted for canadian
audiences and situations. if you see the opening intro to the both you see the
similarities.
cold squad started in 1997 and allegedly was used as a case study for a
producer behind the creation cold case witch started in 2003.
one starred a succesfull female policewoman who wants to start up a squad to
solve the huge backlog of cold cases despite the resistance of her male
couterparts and especially her aging near retirement gruff balding partner a

two interesting bits of trivia...
1) the intro seqence to bones, based on books by a canadian author kathy
reichs, is thought to be based on cold squads intro based on prime suspects
intro.
2) the gruff balding near retirement age partner in cold squad was micheal
hogan who has recently found more fame internationaly as colonel saul thigh on
battlestar gallactica, and a later love intrest for the main character in cold
squad was played by peter wingfield also known as mythos from the highlander tv
series.
