even if anonymity was guaranteed, she contacts eztv to trace the birth of a
scene release? someone would have to walk her through the entire internet first
in order to do the story she wants to do.

besides, i am quite sure no one here knows who uploads it. and frankly, no one
cares. as long as it is done and is done right.

i am almost positive she won't be able to get anywhere near who does the
uploading...whoever it is. there's almost no chance in hell anyone would give
that person up. i mean, when you think about it, that person puts the most
downloaded torrents on the internet up online. of all people breaking the laws
for illegal downloading, he/she is the ringleading grandmaster of the illegal
torrenting world.

if she ever got that information, i would not put it past the feds to subpoena
her in order to get the name of who does it.

good luck with this idea. maybe someone will help.... maybe. i for one will not.

npr is usually late on certain digital phenomenon. i\'m curious to hear this
report.

have any of you not even considered she may not be a real journalist? even if
she is some one else could be using her credentials. i just hope no one is
stupid enough to tell this person or the person impersonating her what she
wants.. as for downloading tv shows.. i do not think it should be illegal. any
one with a vcr or dvr can accomplish a very similar act as in watching it later.
i know there is a name for it but i can not think of it right now.

if i knew any one uploading any television shows i would hope i would have sense
enough to keep my mouth shut and not tell any one about it.. must less any
journalist.

the information she's looking for is all readily available on the internet:
capping, uploading to topsites, credits, currys, fxp and fxp ratios, leechers,
newsgroups, p2p, etc. everyone knows how that stuff works.

also the story has been told a million times, even on npr shows like
"marketplace". i wonder what more information she hopes to find.

well, by the textbook dictionary definition of "uploading," i'm sure there are
thousands of people in the world that upload it.

come to think of it, if those people in china aren't involved in the scene, and
therefore get their episodes through torrents instead of currys, then by that
same definition *they* themselves are the uploaders.

the subbing phenomena is not one way either. there are many shows, anime for
instance, that are fansubbed in english for the same reason...

regardless i doubt anyone is going to "help" this person with their story.

let me paint my idea of the big picture and throw in a little creative
visualization, all at no cost to you except for the time spent to consider it.
you’ve got time. you’ve got nothing but time. no matter what time you think
you don’t have and however much you think time is running out, you have more
time than you can possibly imagine. you can never loose time, you can never
gain time; you can only ever just endeavor to be.

as long as you’re running around in the world of time, which is part and parcel
of the terra you walk on and made possible by the possession of a physical body,
you will never run out of time. you may go through transitions and bodies but
time will be a constant companion. when you are not in the realm of time you
have forever, literally so… any way you look at it there’s a big stretch of
something to either move across or be perfectly still within as you expand
exponentially in all directions.

to explain this i have to get a little metaphysical.

time is a little like gravity. it has weight. it presses down. compare in
your mind the relative time awareness between being in a prison cell with having
sex or watching a (torrented) episode of lost.

compare sitting in a sauna to lying on a beach. compare being a lawyer to being
a musician. if time is a construct of the mind then- it goes without saying-
the first place you should address anything is in your mind. this is your
control sphere and either you are running the show here or the world is running
the show for you.

you see… either you possess an objective mind and a capacity to be detached from
an emotional connection to trivial and ever changing phenomena or your head is
going to be copped by the world around you and you are going to be the plaything
of lizards and swine. you will either be the 'cause' of your own agenda, or you
will be the 'effect' of someone else's pressure on you. it’s a matter of
degrees of torment and bondage or degrees of clarity and freedom; it all begins
and ends in your head and that’s what makes the corporate media (of which npr is
a part) such a powerful force. that’s what makes the control of the flow of
information such a high priority for lizards and swine.

let’s talk a little about lizards and swine and vultures too. animals are
living embodiments of qualities we see exercised by people every day. you can
see the animal characteristics in people without much difficulty if you are
capable of this sort of thing. human characteristics are less easy to spot- and
a surprise when you see them- because they aren’t in evidence as much.

what you want and what you strive for determine who and what you are.

i know that it is difficult to imagine that a person can do the kinds of things
that david rockefeller or henry kissinger or even dubya do because… you’re not
like them and you could never do these things so… it just seems
incomprehensible. this puts you at a disadvantage because you’re always
thinking there has to be reasons; reasonable necessities, needs, requirements
that compel them to behave as they do. it is impossible to imagine that members
of the banking community actually get together and bankroll wars for no other
reason than profit; which they reap from both sides of the battlefield.

war creates debt which creates profit made from money that is printed out of
thin air by bankers by being lent to governments at principle plus interest and
paid for by the taypayers (you) of the land. debt grants control over policy
and resources. that’s all there is to it except for one thing. they enjoy
doing it.

which brings us to the point of this neat little essay about time and the space
it occupies. things are never what they seem to be, or are alluded to or
vouched for: keeping in mind the originator of the request for a "whistle
blower" to help with a story about illegal goings on and the organization behind
said npr reporter that, if she just took a little time and did a little
goooogling, she would gain enough information for the facts [as alluded to by
previous poster above #horizonstar#] to write a very informative screed to
pacify her handlers and entertain her readers like they're sheep being led to
slaughter. so when it comes right down to it you can really only trust
yourself, and ultimately be true only to that one persona, because the issue
always equates to: who can you trust, and it's corollary, who are you willing to
trust? never take the time to give out details that one with a degree of
intelligence could figure out for themselves, especially to a potentially
untrustworthy reporter. either [laura sydell digital culture correspondent
national public radio] is in on the shenanigans behind the screen and is trying
to trap a scene actor, or she is naive and being used for an anti-piracy agenda.
i tend to think the former or maybe a little of both, but either way she is
dangerous and those shenanigans are evil to file sharing.

laura, as you read this right now, i know the truth behind your request will one
day be known and if what i suspect to be the case proves to be right on, then
you are a scammer, and karma will put a big red bullseye on your tushie and
smoke you out to repay your deceit and unkindness. besides, if you found this
site all by yourself and not with the help of someone with an ulterior motive,
then you really don't need help to figure out how to dvr any popular show and
upload a torrent. if anyone has read the laura sydell npr biography at the link

her initial correspondence with eztv forum, then you will know that sydell has a
bachelor's degree from william smith college in geneva, new york, and a j.d.
[that's juris doctor, doctor of jurisprudence; doctorate in law] from yeshiva
university's cardozo school of law. and exactly who or what is this
investigative journalist seeking to scrutinize in the course of her quest,
is it to unravel a trail to benefit her enablers in hollywoodland? perhaps, and
this is really just a hypothesis... perhaps the true intention of ms. sydell's
communique to eztv was not really to uncover the culprit(s), although that
would've been the icing on the cake for her effort; but rather her true
intention was to incite the dialogue in this forum which this post is a part of,
and thus to create the basis for a conspiracy [an agreement by two or more
persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act -- look it up] by means
of any incriminating discussion which would then be the only impetus necessary
to escalate all acts subsequent and previous to the federal level where there is
muscle and the will to use it, and more importantly, where the penalties are
much more severe. hmmm... scary for someone with those credentials to be
'slumming it' and seeking help from a file sharing forum...

the scene needs only honest, conscientious, and caring talent that lives by the
true golden rule.

you'd think a correspondent would have understood this should be on the forum

this is also rather suspicious due to the fact that (as far as i am aware) china
has very strict internet policies and the govt. don't want the chinese accessing
the immoral american culture. so anybody caught downloading or uploading
american shows would be nabbed very quickly.

also, weed isn't a psychedelic. you'd have to be drunk to be arrogant enough to
think that anybody could be bothered to read that ridiculous essay all the way
through. alcohol and lsd mixture perhaps ;p.
