anybody know a good, easy tool for converting these 25fps mkvs to 23.976? i
usually end up just slowing the playback to 96%, but i'd like a better solution.

i don't but just wondering why?
for those of you interested it has proper 5.1 sound but the picture suffers from the same quality issue as
the last skyone rip where the blacks are a bit grey.
i prefer to watch the episodes at the proper speed -- they're sped up by about
4% in the transition from ntsc to pal, which is why the episode is 41min instead
of the actual 43 (give or take a few seconds). most folks don't seem to notice,
but the high-pitched voices drive me bonkers.
i've found a method that contains several steps (and six different programs) to
accomplish the transcode, but so far i haven't found a way to do it that's
easier than just waiting 4 days for the scifi airing. especially when programs
like bsplayer allow you to slow the file down during playback.
in short, it's just a nitpick. this encode is definitely good enough; like
all skyone broadcasts it's a little over-compressed and washed out, and the
whole episode is just a little faster than it should be, which is what happens
when you turn a 23.976fps video into 25fps without adding extra frames. uk
viewers have been dealing with this for decades. i don't think they actually
even notice or care.
i verified the file linked via mini-nova.. and
it is the same as
was posted to
the usenet.. and is stereo only not 5.1!!!
therefore the q is where is the copy with proper surround sound??
just curious .... why do you think that there is one?

also this was broadcast on scifi as well.. and last time i checked both scifi
and skyone broadcast in 5.1+ if the source has it. bsg i'm quite sure was shot
using 5.1.. therefore the 2.0 in this rip has to either be a fuckup by the
capper or by the broadcaster.
