hbo *is* watching this download. know of one isp in the midwest (us) who cut
off a customer for three days for downloading other episodes...

i have cox cable, the problem is there is no oversight as to the method of
obtaining your ip address to prove you were downloading. any employee of any
company representing hbo could open any bittorrent client and write down the ips
of people and then using a simple website find out what isp they belong to.

well it seems that this is happening in the us only?

i don't think they have the authority to track people/isp outside the us
territory... and for such a small thing, when there's much worse crap going on
in the world! not to sound rethorical, but still...
and good point gunnyd, these d/l do in fact raise the dvd sales, i for one am
all for the originals when it comes to quality shows and this one is on the list!

never had anything like that happen here in spain......... todays headlines
stated that spain is now officialy the country where most illegal downloads
occur............. for those of u who dont kknow, all kinds of laws or very lax
here......... the prison and criminal prosecution system are on the opposite end
of the spectrum than the us....... ive seen eta terrorists who killed policemen
on the news, released after 8 years...... ive seen shit like that many
times...... and u can grow up to 3 plants per household.......... and still
watch all the american tv u want thanks to ........... eztv

i remember there being a big debate about this on demonoid, with downloading
the sopranos episodes. i never got anything but apparently several people were
still getting letters or whatever, even while using peer guardian. i don't
know much about it myself, but i've never gotten a single letter i think.
(american) although, the isp i'm currently using isn't in my name and isn't a
big name so maybe that's the cause. but i did use comcast for awhile and
didn't get in trouble at my old place. i just don't think hbo can really do
anything about it except threaten to sue the isps and even then i don't think
they could win the case. isps shouldn't have to monitor each user's activity
to find out if they are dling something illegal. it's ridiculous.

i don't really know how willing isps are to drop the services of thousands of
people because they are dling illegal stuff. that's 30-50 dollars a month in
the states.
