On Oct. 31, 2020, in the small town of Hemphill, Texas, Darci Bass received devastating news: her daughter Livye Lewis had been shot in her car on the side of a road. Nearby, investigators found Lewis' ex-boyfriend Matthew Edgar bloodied and disoriented. From a hospital bed, Edgar insisted he had no recollection of what had happened.
